| VIRTUAL MARCH: Add your voice to end senior hunger by 2020 |
With the aging population in Hawaii, compounded by the economic downturn, immediate action is needed to prevent senior hunger, malnutrition and more costly premature institutionalization.
To meet the current and growing needs, we've given ourselves a new challenge. We are going to do all we can, large and small steps, snapshot and big picture, to spread the pledge to end senior hunger by 2020.
A groundbreaking research study found that as of 2007, there were
6 million seniors facing the threat of hunger. Our national goal is to match that number - with 6 million people who are willing to stand up and pledge to do what it takes to end senior hunger.
More than 1,000 names are now on the list, but we still have a long way to go. Our dream is to have 6 million people take the pledge nationally to become a voice for the same number of seniors who face the risk of hunger. People who care about our seniors, people like you, can help us make this vision a reality.
By pledging your support, you will be adding your voice to thousands of others gathering across the nation in support of changes we need to make in our community to support our most vulnerable, our elders, our seniors.
Help us reach our March for Meals goal of 2,010 pledges, and be a part of leading this movement to support our kupuna and drive out an epidemic of senior hunger from our communities.
Our voices will combine with thousands of others in the national campaign organized by the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
