Career Opportunity Spotlight : Director of Development

The Director of Development will be responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining a comprehensive and robust private and public sector fund-raising program, and actively stewarding donors whose philanthropic goals align with the mission and vision, established by the Lanakila Pacific Foundation’s Board of Directors. The Director ofDevelopment staffs and coordinates the efforts of the Foundation Board and other appropriate committees and will be expected to manage personnel and support a safe and productive work environment.  As a member of the Leadership team, the Director of Development participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives for the organization in addition to problem solving.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required

Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive fundraising experience with demonstrated fundraising accomplishments, some database management, strong project management skills, coupled with attention to detail, demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities, and knowledge in budgeting and financial management.

Clearance/Certification:  1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check, 5) Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract and access to personal vehicle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Knowledge of planned giving and its complexities (estate planning, t ax laws, wills, trusts, etc.)

Experience: Supervisory in a nonprofit organization.

Clearance/Certification:  CPR/First Aid Certification, Blood borne Pathogens certification (obtain on the job).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Goals
– Establish and meet fundraising goals.

Financial - Develop budget and work with financial management staff to ensure funds are accounted for.

Team Building – Ensure that the fundraising program is aligned and contributing to the overall Lanakila Pacific mission.

Grow Donation Base – Develop programs to systematically build the donation base

Major Gifts – Develop, monitor and implement a major gifts program.

Relationship Management – Develop donor relationship management processes to maintain relationships with current and past donors

Marketing - Develop integrated marketing strategies and engagement plans, based on donor interests, to present Lanakila Pacific’s programs to philanthropic supporters.

Processes and System - Manage donation management processes, database systems, reporting, compliance, and analytics.
