Anticipation is mounting for the 33rd annual Honolulu Century Ride with 2,100 riders worldwide expected on Sunday, September 28, 2014! The event uses a non-competitive bicycling style called “Audax” in Europe—success is measured by the completion of the event, so riders of all ages and abilities can participate. Riders choose one of 5 distances to ride, and either dash or cruise through the course at their own pace… so there’s something for all levels!
This flexible and untimed format allows participants the chance to fully enjoy the beautiful sights from Diamond Head to the Windward coast. The front pack of riders, even have some great cyclists riding at near-professional paces.
This year, Lanakila Meals on Wheels will be riding along with Yum! Brands‘ World Hunger Relief to help end hunger here in Hawaii and worldwide. Join our team and ride with us or sponsor our team if you’re unable to make it, click here. If you can join us, Yum! Brands has generously offered to pay the ride registration fee for anyone who raises $500 or more!
We will also be at the information tent at Queen Kapi‘olani Park to help celebrate the riders’ accomplishment and collect donations. To replenish those carbs, we’ll have fresh baked cookies from Lanakila Kitchen for everyone who donates, while supplies last! Every donation will help get vital nutrition to our elderly Oahu neighbors.
It’s Wheels for Meals!
